Who owns Schooner Estates?
John Orestis and his wife, Barbra Crowley, both lifelong residents of Lewiston/Auburn, independently own Schooner Estates. They have more than 30 years experience in providing innovative senior living services.
Is senior living really for me?
Many people are not sure if they’re ready for moving to a retirement community. However, if you are thinking of simplifying the daily chores in your life and having the opportunity to have more time for yourself, then Schooner Estates may be right for you. Ask most residents and they’ll say they wish they hadn’t waited so long!
Does living at Schooner Estates make sense financially?
Many people are surprised to learn that the amenities, services and active, maintenance-free lifestyle at Schooner Estates are comparable to, or less than, their current cost of living. We would be pleased to tell you more about available residences and how the costs compare.
What is the minimum age to move to Schooner Estates?
There is no minimum age. If you like the lifestyle, it is for you.
Is there an entrance fee at Schooner Estates?
There is no entrance fee to move to Schooner Estates. The type of apartment and other services you desire determines your monthly cost.
Will monthly fees increase?
We are committed to maintaining the highest level of services at Schooner Estates. Periodic fee increases to cover operating expenses can be expected. Any fee increases are announced well in advance.
Do I bring my own furniture?
Yes, by having your own furnishings you create your feeling of home immediately.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome within established guidelines.
Can I entertain guests and family?
You are welcome to invite friends and family to visit with you. You can even make reservations for them in any of the dining rooms for an additional charge or reserve any of our common areas for you private use.
Do you have accommodations for friends or family to stay when they visit?
We have a furnished guestroom and a one-bedroom cottage available for overnight guests at a nominal fee. Cots are also available for use in apartments at no charge.
Do I have a choice of dining rooms?
You are welcome to enjoy the fine meals in any one of our four dining rooms. There is no assigned seating in our dining rooms, though some people choose to sit at the same table with friends.
How will I meet people when I move to Schooner Estates?
The residents are friendly people with varied and interesting backgrounds. When you first arrive, many will likely approach you to say hello. With so many different programs and activities taking place daily, you’ll quickly meet others with similar interests as you.
